Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah: The Charm of Home
I will be taking the next 8 days off in observance of Hanukkah. The Lord has shown me he would like me to do this. Anyone can observe Hanukkah. This is my menorah. I just made it out of tea lights. The Lord's feast days and holidays are all listed in the Bible. I find Hebrew for Christians a really helpful site. The Lord is very pleased when we follow his calendar and holidays. The Home Sweet Home party will be back on Dec. 21st. I am not a Messianic Jew. I just follow the teachings given to me by Jesus. The Lord really is helping me write this blog. There is no way I could read the Bible one time through and come up with any of this. Have a wonderful next week and I will be back on the 21st with the Christmas Home Sweet Home linkup!

All glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ,
Sherry

Deception or Truth: Who Do You Permit to Talk to You

Deception or Truth: Who Do You Permit to Talk to You, Matthew 16: The Charm of Home

16 One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.
He replied, “You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times![a] Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.[b] Then Jesus left them and went away.
Matthew 16:1-4
Just like in Jesus' day, today people can interpret the signs in things such as the weather but they aren't looking for the return of Jesus Christ.
No one knows the day or the hour but he will come soon.

Yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees

Later, after they crossed to the other side of the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any bread. “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread. Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “You have so little faith! Why are you arguing with each other about having no bread? Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up?10 Or the 4,000 I fed with seven loaves, and the large baskets of leftovers you picked up? 11 Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’”
12 Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.  Matthew 16:5-12
Many teachers out there are teaching false doctrine, you have to discern and listen for the word of God.

Peter’s Declaration about Jesus

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”[c]
14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”
15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah,[d] the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John,[e] because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’),[f] and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell[g] will not conquer it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid[h] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit[i] on earth will be permitted in heaven.”
20 Then he sternly warned the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Matthew 16:13-20
When the voice of God is given to you it will match scripture.
Listen to it.
Through this voice God is leading you home.

Come Out of the Darkness

Come Out of the Darkness: John 8: The Charm of Home

12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
Jesus was a light in the darkness to the Israelites just as God was a pillar of light in the darkness as He led the Israelites out of Egypt. (Exodus 13:21)
13 The Pharisees replied, “You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid.”  John 8:13
The Israelites didn't recognize Jesus as their light and savior, just as Israel didn't appreciate God as theirs, when He led them through the desert.
14 Jesus told them, “These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me. 15 You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone. 16 And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone. The Father[a] who sent me is with me. 17 Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact.[b] 18 I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.”
19 “Where is your father?” they asked.
Jesus answered, “Since you don’t know who I am, you don’t know who my Father is. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.” 20 Jesus made these statements while he was teaching in the section of the Temple known as the Treasury. But he was not arrested, because his time[c] had not yet come.
John 8:14-20
This time when Jesus returns; He has written belief on our hearts, for those of us who belong to Him. (Hebrews 10:16
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:27

Do You Want to Be Healed?

Do you want to be healed? John 5: The Charm of Home

Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a]with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches.[b] One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” John 5:1-6
Just like this man we are all existing here on earth in a fallen state of illness and sin. Jesus is asking you now if you would like to get well. You only have to say yes to Him.
“I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”
Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, 10 so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”
11 But he replied, “The man who healed me told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’”
12 “Who said such a thing as that?” they demanded. John 5:7-11
The Jewish leaders represent people here now that are of the world (Satan rules this world and them. 2 Corinthians 4:4) They won't like it if you are healed by a miracle. Jesus wants to heal you anyway.
13 The man didn’t know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd. 14 But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”15 Then the man went and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had healed him.
John 5: 13-15
He sent out his word and healed them,
snatching them from the door of death.
21 Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving
and sing joyfully about his glorious acts.
Psalm 107:20-22
